Denise Dowse, director and actress from 'Beverly Hills, 90210,' died at the age of 64.

Denise Dowse, an actress and director whose credits included "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Insecure," and "Ray," died on Sunday, her family confirmed to CNN.

She also announced her sister's death on Instagram, remembering her as an advocate for African American theatre.

Dowse is best known for her role as Mrs. Yvonne Teasley in the hit series "Beverly Hills, 90210,"

Dowse, who has appeared in dozens of films and TV shows, has also directed films, including "Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story," which premiered at the Pan African Film Festival in April.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Dowse's manager, Sandra Siegal of Siegal Company, remembered her client and friend.

Dowse has appeared in several TV shows over the course of her career, including "Charmed," "Girlfriends," "The West Wing," and "Law and Order."

According to her IMDB profile, she has also appeared in films such as "Pleasantville" and "Requiem for a Dream."
